What is a National Fee-for-Service Network dental plan?
It means that to receive any benefits under the United Concordia
FEDVIP plan, you must visit a dentist in our National
Fee-for-Service Network. However, there are a few exceptions,
including orthodontic, emergency and overseas care. A network-only
plan ensures you significant savings and quality care. All of our
network dentists go through rigorous review through our quality
assurance process. And because of their contractual agreement
with us, they agree to accept our maximum allowable charges
(MACs) as payment in full for covered services and to
file claims on behalf of members. This saves time and money.
For what amounts can dentists bill employees under the United
Concordia plan?
Network dentists can charge for applicable deductibles and
coinsurance amounts, but they cannot balance-bill for the difference
between their standard charges and the Maximum Allowable Charges
(MACs) they have agree to accept from United Concordia.
How many routine visits per year are covered under
the plan? Twice a year (every six months).
Are referrals needed to visit a specialist?
No.
How can employees find out about covered services?
First, check online under
The Right Plan, where they can find the Benefits
Summary of the FEDVIP plan. They can also refer to the
Program Guide for coverages and services explained.
Encourage them to always consult with their dentist on
treatments, covered services and out-of-pocket costs. And
they can call United Concordia’s dedicated customer
service representatives at 1-877-FYI-UCCI (1-877-394-8224).
Do employees need to take an ID card or claims form
to the dentist? No, United Concordia
network dentists take care of all paperwork.
What is the course of action when an employee disagrees
with a bill? Tell them to first talk with
their dentist. If questions still remain, have them call
United Concordia’s customer service representatives
at 1-877-FYI-UCCI.
How do employees handle dental emergencies when traveling
away from home? Try to obtain services from
a United Concordia network dentist, but if that
can’t be done, take care of the emergency and
then submit the claim to us. In most cases, we
provide coverage/reimbursement.
